Florence top-10 highlights Shirley's Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series doubleheader
Brian Shirley returned to competition with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series over the weekend with pair of events at Circle City Raceway (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Florence Speedway (Walton, Ky.).
On Friday, Shirley kicked off the weekend in the Hoosier State at Indiana's Circle City Raceway, finishing 11th in the 50-lap, $15,000-to-win feature. From there, Shirley made the overnight haul to Kentucky's Florence Speedway for the 40th annual Ralph Latham Memorial. A valiant effort to nab the final transfer spot in his heat race earned Shirley's Bob Cullen-owned No. 3s the 15th starting position for the $25,000-to-win main event. In the 50 lapper, Shirley climbed seven positions to take the checkered flag in eighth to collect his eighth top-10 finish on tour this season.
Squirrel now sits ninth overall in Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings.
