Shirley soars to pair of podium finishes with Outlaws at Humboldt and 81 Speedway
With only two regular season weekends left on tour, Brian Shirley unloaded the Bob Cullen Racing machine at Humboldt (Kan.) Speedway on Friday afternoon for the first of two nights with the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Series.
Shirley picked up a heat race win and redrew the pole position for the $12,000-to-win showdown and wound up third on the podium. He trailed Dennis Erb Jr. and Dustin Sorensen while Bobby Pierce and Ethan Dotson completed the Top-5.
Traveling overnight to 81 Speedway (Park City, Kan.) for the Ed Gressel Memorial, Shirley once again took home a heat race victory, but redrew the third-starting position for the 50-lap main event. Brian charged to the lead on the initial start and briefly led in the $20,000-to-win show but eventually settled for a runner-up spot behind Tim McCreadie.
Shirley sits fifth in the Outlaw point standings.
