Shirley lands podium outing with World of Outlaws; fifth in Battle at the Border finale
Brian Shirley unloaded the Bob Cullen Racing No. 3S machine at Sharon Speedway (Hartford, Ohio) on Friday afternoon for the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series-sanctioned Battle at the Border.
With just under 40 Late Models on hand, Shirley clocked in fifth-quickest in his qualifying group before finishin second in a heat race. With $12,000 on the line in the opening feature, Brian raced to a podium finish in third. He trailed Bobby Pierce and Drake Troutman while Ryan Gustin and Nick Hoffman completed the podium.
On Saturday evening, Shirley once again started from the fourth-row in the main event and drove forward. Brian rounded out the Top-5 in fifth for the $15,000 finale.
Shirley is seventh in the series point standings.
