Seventh-place finish in second Gopher 50 preliminary at Deer Creek Speedway

On Thursday afternoon, Brian Shirley made the trip North to Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minn.) and joined the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series for the three-day Gopher State 50.

Finishing 16th in the first preliminary night, Shirley found more speed on Friday evening as he drove to a seventh-place finish in the 40-lap, $10,000-to-win main event.

Saturday's $50,000-to-win finale was rained out and will not be made up.
