Shirley cruises to fifth, third, and ninth-place finishes with MARS at Cedar County and 34 Raceway
Brian Shirley and the Bob Cullen Racing team spent an extended weekend in Iowa as they competed in a MARS Late Model Championship Series tripleheader at Cedar County Raceway (Tipton, Iowa) and 34 Raceway (West Burlington, Iowa).
Kicking things off on Thursday night, Shirley set quicktime in his qualifying group and picked up a heat race victory which put him on the front-row for the $5,000-to-win opener. In the 40-lap feature, Brian hung on for a Top-5 finish in fifth.
For the first night at 34 Raceway, Shirley grabbed another heat race victory and started fourth in the $5,000-to-win main event. Brain raced to a podium finish behind Bobby Pierce and Dennis Erb Jr.
With $10,555 on the table Saturday, Brian recorded a Top-10 finish in ninth.
