Brian Shirley opens up Speedweeks with fifth-place showing at Golden Isles Speedway

Kicking off his 2025 campaign, Brian Shirley and the Bob Cullen Racing team joined the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Golden Isles Speedway (Waynesville, Ga.) on Friday afternoon for the Super Bowl of Racing.

Clocking in third-fastest in his stacked qualifying group, Shirley finished runner-up to Ryan Gustin in his heat race and earned a third-row starting spot. WIth $12,000 on the line for the A-Main, Brian scored a Top-5 outing in fifth. He trailed Tyler Bruening, Jonathan Davenport, Brandon Overton, and Devin Moran.

Inclement weather and an unfavorable forecast forced track and series officials to cancel the final two rounds of the Super Bowl of Racing on Saturday and Sunday.
