Brian Shirley Leads All During Hell Tour Opener At Peoria
PEORIA, Ill. (June 15, 2023) Pocketing $5,000 Wednesday night at Illinois' Peoria Speedway, Brian Shirley led start to finish in the opening round of the 38th Summer Nationals, better known as the Hell Tour.
A four-time champion of the summer series, the win was his 39th with the tour and fifth at the quarter-mile-oval, according to the event information posted by DIRTcar.
Besting the field of 40 entries for his third win of the season, the night was quick from the start at second quick in Group B Qualifying at 12.040-seconds. Winning his Heat Race, then drew the pole for the feature. A couple of cautions during the 40-lap affair saw challenges but to no avail.
