Shirley Enters 40th Annual Dirt Track World Championship

Brian Shirley was one of 63 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series entries on hand for the 40th Annual Dirt Track World Championship at Portsmouth (Ohio) Raceway Park. (Michael Boggs photo) After starting fifth in his heat race on Friday night, Brian advanced two spots to grab the third and final transfer position into the $100,000-to-win finale.

Starting the 100-lapper in 17th, Shirley ran as high as 11th at one point before fading and ultimately retiring on lap 34 to a 29th place finish.
