Shirley Kicks Off 2020 Lucas Oil Campaign in Georgia

Brian Shirley kicked off his quest for the 2020 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series title over the weekend at Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, Ga. (Zach Yost photo)

Shirley was scheduled to compete in a pair of events in the Bob Cullen Racing No. 3s Hoker Trucking/ Thomason Express/ J&J Ventures Gaming/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model. Unfortunately, Friday's program fell victim to Mother Nature.

All systems were a go for Saturday's Super Bowl of Racing finale. After timing in 12th in his qualifying group, Brian advanced from his sixth starting spot in the heat race to finish third. Earning the 12th position on the grid of the $12,000-to-win feature, Shirley battled just outside the Top-10 throughout the 50-lap affair before crossing the finish line in 12th.
