Tough luck follows Brian Shirley to LaSalle Speedway for Illinois Valley Showdown
With the two-day Illinois Valley Showdown close to home, Brian Shirley made the quick trip to LaSalle (Ill.) Speedway on Friday afternoon.
Among a 32-car MARS Late Model field, Shirley finished fifth in his heat race and started 15th in the first of two $5,000-to-win prelims. Brian made up two spots in the 25-lap A-Main before he raced to a Top-10 in ninth in the second feature.
On Saturday night, Brian qualified second-fastest in his group and picked up a heat race victory which put him on the pole for the $25,000-to-win finale. Shirley led the first 11 circuits before jumping the cushion and falling to sixth. Shirley marched back to second-place before he jumped the cushion again and pulled off early. He was scored 17th in the final rundown.
