Pair of Top-5 finishes for Brian Shirley during Illini 100 weekend

Ready for some racing close to home, Brian Shirley made the quick trip to Farmer City (Ill.) Raceway on Friday afternoon for the first night of Illini 100 with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series.

With just over 40 Late Models checked in, Shirley nabbed the final transfer spot in his heat race and started 13th in Friday's $12,000-to-win opener. Brian stormed to the front of the pack and wound up on the podium in third behind Ethan Dotson and Ricky Thornton Jr.

With $20,000 on the line for Saturday's finale, Shirley set quicktime in his qualifying group and picked up a heat race win. Brian ran as high as second in the 60-lap feature but ultimately placed just off the podium in fourth.

Shirley is currently eighth in the World of Outlaw points standings.
